A Kawaii promise will never be broken
We are 1,5 month into the new year and as promised, after a bit of a quite year I would go back to more frequent posting and with a lot of new exciting things coming to the blog soon, what better way to start off that promise with new reviews and giveaways!???
To kick off the My Little Heart of Kawaii 2017’s Review & Giveaway Category, I am reviewing January’s Kawaii Box for you guys AND hosting February’s Kawaii Box giveaway too, open internationally!
So have fun reading and good luck on your entries!
Blippo is one of my oldest and most frequent partners I love to collaborate with ever since the start of my blog and still do!
Not only is Blippo your #1 source for all things cute and kawaii, offers a very large variety of the most kawaii-est and also affordable products, they also have the most friendly customer service! Besides their online store, Blippo, offers two monthly subscription boxes focused on Japanese products, the modern pop culture and a kawaii lifestyle.
Blippo offers something for both your Japanese heart of kawaii as well as your Japanese Sweet (or sour) tooth. With Their Kawaii Box they fulfill your kawaii-est dreams with the cutest items and supplies and as they offer a large variety of a lot of known Kawaii brands such as Sanrio (Hello Kitty and friends), San-X (Rilakkuma and friends), Disney (Tsum Tsum), Muse (Alpacasso), Pusheen and many more, you often find goodies of these brands in their monthly subscription boxes too.
Both the subscription boxes offer various plans to choose from, are affordable, have free international shipping and are delivered directly to your door!
Due to my pregnancy, it’s been a while since I’ve reviewed either one of them, to refresh your memory of the latest kawaii box review go here and for the japan candy box go here. I also did a Blippo review back in 2015.
Something for the beauty queens, the potter heads and the kawaii princesses
As I’ve mentioned in previous reviews, subscription boxes in general have become a true trend over these past few years, while there were just a few in the beginning, with the kawaii box as one of the early birds that is now still standing along with all the newer ones.
Subscription boxes now come in all types, product variety, focused on different lifestyles, interests and price budgets, from food boxes and beauty boxes to geeky boxes and kawaii boxes. There’s something for the beauty queens, the health lovers, the gamer boys and girls, the potter heads and other book addicts and obviously the Kawaii princesses (and princes) You name it and I am sure it’s out there!
Kawaii Box is the cutest monthly Subscription Box!
Receive a box filled with hand-picked kawaii items from Japan directly to your home every month!
As seen on NBC’S Today Show
Kawaii Box, being one of the early birds, definitely earned their mark into the world of subscription boxes and so when they were featured last winter on NBC’S Today Show as one of the selected “Gifts that keep giving”, I thought that was really awesome and well deserved!
January’s Kawaii Box review
The first thing I’ve noticed when receiving the Kawaii Box was the updated look of the box. The box looks so cute now with the lilac hearts and the super bright pink printed lace banner. They also added some cuteness to the inside of the box! Definitely a big upgrade I am very fond of. Only thing I would still suggest tho, is to use firmer carton for the box. The Kawaii Box gets smashed pretty easy in the mail, which happened this time and I have had happened to me before too, which can also damage the items in it. Of course you have to considerate the overseas shipping and mail services not always handling with care, but I also reviewed subscription boxes like Doki Doki crate and the Pusheen box in the past and their boxes always were delivered undamaged as their boxes were noticeably firmer, so that is something the kawaii box (and Japan Candy box) can perhaps think about for the future.
What is most fun about receiving the Kawaii box?
Definitely the feeling you get upon opening the box and not knowing what surprises are awaiting for you inside! It gives you that feeling where you can be a kid all over again, waiting full of suspense not knowing what you’ll get, which definitely adds to the joy of having a subscription box because you get to re-live that moment every month!
Kawaii box offers 10-12 cute hand-picked kawaii products in every box, they vary in style, interest and brand
January’s Kawaii Box was delivered right before Valentine’s Day and so that added some extra Valentine’s cuteness. As usual they added the little postcard, which this time said “Happy Valentine’s Day” and on the back it described what January’s box includes.
I will follow the order of the kawaii box postcard list for reviewing
Glico Popcan Disney Lollipop
Of course being the giant Disney fan that I am, I automatically thought this lollipop was super cute! The packaging being bright pink and featuring all things Minnie was obviously an eye catcher for me right away and then after unwrapping it, seeing the actual shape made it even cuter! I also actually liked the taste, I often find Japanese candy very nasty but I did really enjoy this kawaii lollipop!
I enjoyed it so much, I actually turned into a kawaii character myself…totally on accident! (by snapchat haha)
Nemuneko Sleepy cat plush is a decent sized plush, super cute and soft and already taken by our littlest kawaii princess Lollie (our nickname for Flora-Aurora) She loves petting him and he’s now living in her baby gym. At least he found a good home right!?
Koreon Meal Eraser set
Being an illustrator and graphic designer, I love to surround myself by all things cute, including cute work gear as it inspires me in my own creations. These cute food erasers, I definitely like a lot!
Valentine’s Plush Stickers and Twinkle Deco Stickers
As I have a ton of the kawaii-est and prettiest stickers already, also thanks to all the previous kawaii boxes, these just added to my already very large collection ha-ha. Therefore I am obviously never short on stickers but I don’t even use them much either, they do come in handy to decorate gifts with or my penpal letters and now with Lollie around, I already have a stash for her to play with too when she gets older.
Kawaii Bunny Phone Ring Holder & Stand
Cute and handy, only not for my phone. Hubby said he would use it, so I will give it to him instead.
Cute Ribbon Hair Clip
Keep those cute hair clips coming Kawaii Box! I always love their cute hair accessories, I often use them in my own hair but since our daughter was blessed with a head full of princessy dark brown locks upon birth, I am a very blessed mommy who does not have to wait until her little princess is about 2 years old to make a decent pony tail or a cute hairdo, I can already stick all kinds of cute in her hair right now! So obviously, I put the cute ribbon hair clip into Lollie’s locks and look how cute she looks!
They were also a perfect match with her Valentine’s Fairy outfit! So adorable!
Ghost Pop Pocket Mirror
I thought this mirror was okay, it’s rather big for a pocket mirror and so I probably won’t really use it. Maybe it will come in handy to take on holidays.
I didn’t like this badge, it’s so boring and doesn’t really add to anything.
Pocky Stick Ballpoint pen
Just like the cute hairy accessories, keep the cute pens coming, especially the fine liners, like this one! Kawaii Box truly has the cutest pens and is to blame for my cute pen addiction which I now have a full collection of in my creative studio (and yes please keep them coming because as an illustrator that collection can never be large enough) Although I did not recognize this pen as a Pocky before reading the description, I still think it’s super cute!
Kracie Popin’ Cookin’ DIY Kit Colorful Ramune Land
Japan is known for the kawaii-est AND craziest candy on earth. Especially their DIY sets are SO much fun to make and often so pretty too!…but they are also, to me, the most disgusting candy on earth. Nevertheless this set was a treat to look at, especially with their pretty pastel colors (but be warned not to eat, I did try and oh gosh…I am not sure if that was even meant to be edible hahaha)
My least favorite items of this month’s box were the Ghost Pop Pocket Mirror and the Harajuku Badge. Overall this box was cute though, as usual I liked the stationary goodies and hair accessory the best.
Sharing is more fun!
I also find, now that my sweet mini-me is here, there’s plenty of stuff which I can use for her or save for her to play with when she’s a little older, which makes the boxes more interesting and fun for me as well because I can share with her!
Because they tuck in different things monthly, there’s always something in there for everyone’s liking
More known brands like Hello Kitty and Disney
I am always very honest in all of my reviews, whether the products are sponsored or paid for by myself, I think my readers deserve and appreciate honesty and so do my partners! While I do like the Kawaii box in general, I do really wish to see more known brands monthly. Usually I only find 1 or 2 at the most, known branded goodies in one box and I would love to see more and I am sure a lot of subscribers would agree. Their Blippo shop offers such a wide variety of all the known kawaii characters and so I definitely think this would make their box even more popular and loved!
Commit to a theme
Also as the box is monthly and often arrives right around the corner of a holiday like Christmas, Valentine, Easter or Halloween, I think making the boxes more themed related would be an awesome move too. I know they do adjust their postcard to it (like the January box said “Happy Valentine) and add a little holiday themed goodie here and there, like the Valentine’s plush stickers in this one, but in my opinion really commit to a theme fully around certain holidays would be even cuter! So for November’s box (which arrives in December) only add a winterly collection of Christmas themed items and for January’s box (which arrives in February) only add a sweet collection of Valentine themed items and so on.
